1. Log into the Participant Portal.
2. Inside of the blue COBRA Benefits banner, click the Make Elections button.
3. The Elect Your COBRA Benefits screen will appear, displaying the plans available to you and the monthly premiums for the selected level of coverage. If you have one or more dependents eligible for COBRA continuation, their names will appear below each plan.
4. By default, all plans and dependents will be automatically selected for election. If you wish to waive coverage for a particular plan or waive coverage for specific dependents under one or more plans, deselect the corresponding checkboxes. The premium rates displayed on screen will adjust accordingly.
5. Once you have verified that the elections you made are correct, you may click the Submit button to save your elections.
6. You will be prompted to make your full initial premium payment. If you choose to skip this step for now, please note that your coverage will not be activated until your full initial premium payment is received and processed.
Starting when you first make your elections, you will have a 45-day grace period to make your initial COBRA premium payment, which consists of the premiums due for all months starting from your first day of COBRA eligibility up to the current month. Once your initial COBRA premium payment is made, subsequent payments are due on the first day of each month, with a 30-day grace period to make each month’s payment.
Once you have submitted a payment, you will receive a letter confirming your elections and payment status. Your insurance carrier(s) will receive a reinstatement notice advising them that you have enrolled in COBRA and that your benefits must be activated. Please allow 7-10 business days for the carrier(s) to process our request to activate your coverage.
