Ameriflex is unable to determine if a previously-terminated employee was terminated voluntarily or involuntarily, without the employer providing and confirming such information. As the custodian of employment records, the employer is responsible for reporting this information accurately; therefore, it is crucial employers review their COBRA records to ensure those employees who were terminated beginning November 1, 2019 to present were marked correctly as involuntary or voluntary.

  1. Step 1 - Review Information: Review COBRA records and confirm that individuals who were terminated involuntarily or had a reduction in hours are marked as Termination-Involuntary or Reduction in Hours under Event Type. View instructions for this here.  Please allow us 5 business days to process these updates due to high volume of updates that have been received. Once processed you can confirm processing by viewing this data again in the portal.
  2. Step 2 - Submit Updates: If there are any changes that need to be made to an existing individual’s status in the COBRA system, please send us a spreadsheet with participant full name, social security number, and termination status (involuntary/reduction in hours) to your Client Relationship Team. Ameriflex only needs the names of those that need to be updated to involuntary. You can access their contact information in the Ameriflex Employer Portal. If you need to reset your password, please see this helpful article. If you need to add individuals that are not in the system, or did not previously elect, please complete the steps below. We will need prior plans as we will if the first date of COBRA coverage is before Ameriflex took over administration. 3. Deadline: To ensure all individuals who are eligible for the subsidy receive their notices in the required timeframe, please notify your Client Relationship Team of any changes by May 7th. Delays in providing this information could lead to members not receiving communications by the required postmark date of May 31.
